529 Accounts

As of January 1, 2018, families with established 529 plans may withdraw up to $10,000 per year tax free to pay for private school tuition. In addition, 529 funds may also be used to purchase related supports such as technology, books, and supplies. For more information, please check with a tax advisor or your 529 plan administrator.

Flexible Spending Accounts / Health Savings Accounts

Some students enroll at The Polytech primarily because we are able to make accommodations necessary for many health and learning issues, such as attention deficit disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, anxiety, depression, and other mental illnesses, and chronic diseases like asthma that may impact attendance. When an underlying health need drives enrollment, tuition at The Polytech may be classified as a medical expense, and eligible to be paid using pre-tax funds from a flexible spending  or health savings account.  Typically, a letter from the doctor outlining the need for a modified school schedule, reduced attendance requirement, individualized instruction, and/or quiet predictable learning environment would be required. Consult with your doctor, tax expert, or account administrator for more information about whether or not such funds may be used in your specific situation.
